Cosmetic consultations

Considered treatment, starting with you.

Consultations are led by Kirby Shannon, a Registered Nurse and clinical trainer with more than ten years in cosmetic practice. The aim isn't to change your face — it's to understand what matters to you, explain what's realistic, and leave the decision with you.

Your consultation

Trained to assess first — because that's what we teach.

As a clinical trainer, Kirby teaches other clinicians that the most important part of any cosmetic treatment happens before it starts. Your consultation covers:

  • Medical history, medications, allergies and previous treatments
  • Facial anatomy, skin quality and how your skin has changed over time
  • Your goals — and whether they're realistic for you
  • Risks, side effects, recovery time and what to expect
  • Costs, likely number of appointments and ongoing maintenance
  • Alternatives, including skin treatments or no treatment

Safety & aftercare

Experience matters most when something needs care.

Complication prevention and management is a core part of the training Kirby delivers to other clinicians. At Oak, that means documented consent, careful technique, clear written aftercare and a follow-up arrangement after treatment.

If you have concerns after treatment — at Oak or elsewhere — contact the clinic and we'll arrange a clinical review.

Questions

Good to know

Why do I need a consultation first?

Suitability depends on your health, skin and goals, so options, risks, recovery and costs are discussed in person with a registered practitioner once you've been assessed. Cosmetic consultations are for adults aged 18 and over.

Is a doctor involved?

Oak is a doctor-led clinic. Your clinician works within a medical team and will explain who is involved in your care at your consultation.

Are there risks?

All cosmetic procedures carry risks, including bruising, swelling, asymmetry, infection and, rarely, more serious complications. Your clinician will explain these in detail and how they're managed.

How long do results last?

This varies between individuals and treatment types. Your clinician will give you a realistic range based on your assessment.

What if I'm unhappy after treatment?

Contact the clinic. You'll have a follow-up arrangement with your clinician, and concerns are reviewed and managed clinically.
